Adhesive bonding enables the joining of countless materials – whether it is wood, metal, plastic glass, ceramics or paper. And we encounter adhesives every day. They are like an invisible companion that unnoticeably hold our world together. Whether in large industrial applications or our own home, whether at work or out and about – adhesives contribute immensely to many areas of modern life today.

The term sustainability is omnipresent today, almost like a "hot topic" of our time. But how can we make sustainability a part of our everyday life? Basically, everyone can live a sustainable life. Whether it is by eliminating plastic bags, riding your bike instead of using a car or maintaining all items used in everyday life. Repairing instead of throwing away is a trend without expiration date. A lot of things can be used for many years without needing to be replaced. Previous generations have already shown this. And that is where adhesives come into play: They are an enormous help for extending the lifespan of all sorts of belongings. Whether it is for patching the sole of a shoe, for glueing broken porcelain or for repairing a car bumper – there is an adhesive solution for nearly every problem.

Due to adhesive bonding, resources can be saved already during the production process. Many adhesives do not alter the surface of materials, in contrast to welding or riveting, for example. Adhesive bonding neither causes material loss, nor material damages. In addition, in most cases, only small amounts of adhesive are suffcient to achieve even large-surface bondings – not least because of sophisticated dosing systems. These dosing systems are continuously improved in order to make the bonding process even easier and more flexible. We have also come up with our own dispensing solution – with the development of our WEICON Pen-Systems. Permanent adhesive bonds, precise dosing and low consumption help to save our natural resources.

Adhesives keep processes running and increase a company’s efficiency. They optimise work processes and help to cut costs significantly. For example, the screw connections and threads of modern heating systems are sealed with anaerobic adhesives and sealants specifically for metal connections during the production process. That way, consistent quality as well as process reliability in series production are ensured. With the right adhesive, companies are able to react quickly and flexibly to individual requirements – whether it is in special adhesive bondings or in fast repairs. Special epoxy resin systems, for example, can be used to backfill systems that are difficult to align or to repair corroded pumps.

To generate renewable energies, machines and plants such as wind farms, solar power plants or geothermal heat pumps are essential. For their production, installation and maintenance, adhesives play an important role. Elastic adhesives based on MS polymer with high initial strength and fast build-up of strength were developed especially for solar power systems. Furthermore, our products are often used in the maintenance of wind farms and geothermal heat pumps, which significantly increases the service life of these machines.
